What Makes Our Program Unique
You may be asking, "why implement THIS program into schools?"
Well, what sets this program apart from a regular volunteer program where students simply spend X amount of hours at a volunteer placement for credit-value is the element of interaction. We feel that, for many students, the lessons and values behind the act of volunteering are lost if they are not discussed and processed properly. This means learning with others, talking with peers about lessons and situations they are exposed to, and formulating conclusions based on those experiences. Rather than simply performing community service acts, such as park clean-up, or the ever-popular volunteering with animals, our program requires students to look at real-life situations that will encourage them to make good choices. Learning about the realities of healthcare will better prepare them for making political decisions as an adult, discovering the costs involved in treatment will expose them to budget-planning, and seeing the true nature of life: short and precious, may inspire them to initiate their own healthy lifestyle choices.
We appreciate your support while we promote our unique program in public schools across Canada!
